Unseen, Yet Remembered

and will be remembered forever.

This project represents a deliberate effort to visually reclaim the identities of individuals erased by political repression in Iran. I, as a photographer, was barred from encountering or documenting directly. Employing artificial intelligence, I have generated portraits to stand in place of the photographs I yearned to capture but was denied the opportunity to take.

The conception of this work took root during my imprisonment, where conversations with fellow photographers about the images we longed to create became acts of resistance and remembrance.

Unseen, Yet Remembered functions both as an archive preserving the names and visages of those lost within collective memory, and as a deeply personal response to the intrinsic need to bear witness through photography and storytelling in the absence of physical access and direct representation.

The imagined encounters this project constructs embody a vision of a more just and humane world—one where remembrance transcends absence.
